The Girl with the Golden Brush Essay

The Girl with the Golden Brush Essay

Once upon a time there was a very kind little girl, named Bell, who had long golden hair. Besides, all her clothes were golden too and she had a magic golden brush with which Bell could draw anything she wanted and then it would become real. She loved drawing and helping people. Bell was sure that she had a lot of friends and that she could rely on all her friends. They often asked her to help them and she never refused them.
One summer morning Bell’s friend, Charley, came to her. He was upset as he had broken his bike that his parents had given him for his previous birthday.
“My bike is broken. What shall I do? I can’t go home. My dad will kill me,” cried Charley.
“I’ll give you the same bike in a jiffy,” said Bell.
Bell drew a bike and then she said a magic spell:
“Ickerty stickely,
Golden brush,
Make the same bike
For my friend Charley”
POOF! The old broken bike was gone. In its place was a new bike.
“Take it, Charley and don’t cry! Your father will not see the difference,” said Bell.
“Thank you, Bell,” replied happily Charley. And he went home with the new bike that looked absolutely like his old one.
Some time later, as Bell was drawing the new house for the puppy, named Clifford, she had found near her school, she saw her friend Emily sitting on the bench.
“Hi, Emily, how are you?” asked Bell.
“Hi, Bell. I have lost my keys. And my mum and dad have gone to see my grandpa and they will come back only tomorrow. I don’t know where to sleep,” said Emily sadly.
“What do your keys look like?” asked Bell.
As Emily described the way her keys looked like, Bell drew them and said some magic words. POOF! Emily was holding her keys.
“Thank you very much! You have helped me a lot,” said Emily.
“You are welcome!” replied Bell.

So, Bell always helped all her friends with her magic golden brush.
Until one day when her friend Bill came to her and asked Bell to make him a present:
“Bell, please, do me a favour – draw a brush that will also be magic, like the one you have.”
“But why do you need such a brush? What will you do with it?” asked Bell.
He said that with that brush he could also do a lot of great deals and he would always help people. But Bell could not create anything magic, she could only draw a simple brush and yes, it would become real, but she couldn’t do anything that would have the magic power. She explained that to Bill.
“But why don’t you give that brush to me?” – asked Bill.
“I can’t. Only I know what to do with it. Besides, someone else can do something bad with it, and you know, Bill, this golden brush must help people,” answered the girl.
“I promise I will always help people. Please, give it to me. You have had it for ages. And I also want to help people”
Bell thought for a while and decided to give her magic golden brush.
“Ok, I will give it to you. But promise me two things: do only good things and give it back within a fortnight”.
“I promise!”- replied Bill.
And then Bill gave her golden brush to Bill.
A few days later Bill suddenly noticed that it was already 10pm but it was dark outside. So, she went outside to find out what was the reason. As she met Emily in the darkness she heard that Bill had created many dark knights that had grabbed the sun. Emily explained that Bill wanted to be a king of the Nightland and wanted to take away all the light.
Bell rushed to Bill and asked him to give her magic golden brush back but he refused, claiming that he was its owner and the king of the whole land.
Then Bell run away and cried. She cried and cried and didn’t know what to do because without her magic golden brush she was just an ordinary girl and couldn’t prevent from the beginning of the darkness.
Meanwhile, Charley, Emily and other Bell’s friends decided that they need to do something. They took Bell and they told her their plan how to capture Bill and kill his dark knights.
The next day all the friends came to Bill and as he was sleeping they took the magic brush and Bell drew an army of the day knights. Then the terrible battle began. So, back and forth went the dark knights and the day knights in the most terrible battle ever fought. Finally, there were only two knights left, a dark one and a day knight. The dark knight lunged at the day knight, who fought back, finally forcing the enemy to slip and fall from the top of the castle.
That was how the friends won the battle and captured Bill who didn’t say anything because he was no more the king of the Nightland.
All the friends took the sun and let it free and there was the light again. Everybody was happy as the sun was brightening again and there were no Nightland.

“It’s good you have your golden brush back, Bell, because only you do the right things and we are not afraid of anything because you will always help us,“ said Emily.
“It’s good I have true friends and I am not afraid of anything. You will always help me,” smiled Bell.
