The role of culture of thinking and social action essay

In a current environment, the role of culture of thinking and social action is especially increasing. This situation is connected with the expansion of the democratic principle of pluralism of opinions, beliefs, and ideals; political views with the need to talk and negotiate, to come to an agreement, to participate in a collective action, to strive for common goals and achieve mutual benefits. Thus, we are going to discuss how different aspects such as language, culture and history shape the way we live, and change the inner essence of human nature.

At the beginning, it is important to mention that there is no one point of view on the issue of the discussion, so the paper presents only one of them. A wise warning came to us from immemorial times: “Beware of thought – it is the beginning of the act”. The warning means that unilateral judgments and hasty actions lead to costly mistakes, and waste of efforts. In many situations, we expect from people the ability to judge things and situations properly, to express their opinions correctly (without cheating), to keep the word, and be honest, while we are not always doing the same towards others.

It is impossible to say that all people are good, or vice versa. There are as many different characters as there many people all over the globe, but we can hardly deny the fact that some people are good, while others are bad. It seems to me that humans are basically good, because every born child knows nothing about the world, and exactly parents and society educate the baby in one or another way. I understand that some people may argue my point of view, using various examples of bad heredity, but it seems to me that much more characteristics of the human character depends on education and society than on some genetic mutations or specific factors of bad heredity. Thinking about the opponents of my opinion, I believe that every person has a right to have own opinion about some issues concerning human nature or something else, but my position is strong enough to be changed by unproved suppositions or unreliable facts.

Thinking about the way how language, culture and history shape the way people think, feel, and view the world, I would like to dwell on race issues. For instance, there is no a secret that the population of America took its shape, with the exception of indigenous people, mostly of immigrants from other continents (Takaki, 1993). Immigration had a profound impact on the economic, social, ethnic, and cultural development of American society after a formation of American nation and the first state in America (the United States). It was the period when white people considered the black ones as their slaves, and new American traditions made innocent people to struggle for several ages. There were also many problems with other nations such as Jews, Indian, Chinese, Japanese, Mexican, but the problem concerning African nation is the most popular and highly discussed.

Nowadays, when a situation connected with racial aspect has changed, there still exist some displays of racial discrimination. Controversial situation with discrimination has a place in our society today, because it was a kind of tradition for white people to consider their nation higher than other ones. Of course, there exist many variations to change the situation in better side, but in this case exactly cultural and historical preconditions made people to look at the color of skin, language or other specific characteristics, and make their conclusions about a person basing on historical experience of the own nation.

Thus, summarizing the above presented information, I would like to say that all people should be equal in their rights in spite of everything. It is hard to realize that some historical events changed everything in a side of prejudice, but, believing in basically good components of human nature, there exist a hope that the situation will get better in the nearest future.
